    Course Overview

    Design Thinking refers to the methods and processes for investigating ill-defined problems, acquiring information, analysing knowledge, and conceiving solutions. As a style of thinking, it is the ability to:

    • Combine empathy for the context of a problem 
    • Creativity in the generation of insights and solutions 
    • Rationality to analyse and fit solutions to the context.

    Innovation is the commercialisation realisation of invention which dovetails with design thinking in creating products, services and experiences that resonate with the marketplace. Through the Lot we will integrate the discipline of design strategy with design thinking methods and processes, best practices in innovation & creativity and business as it applies to the principles and applications of sustainability.

    The How 

    • Methods covered but not limited to : Design Strategy, user research and customer journey mapping, brainstorming, prototyping and validation across the 5 stages of design thinking.

    About the Trainer

    Dr Declan Bogan is co-founder of SUSTHUB and CEO of innovate2zero (www.innovate2zero.com) a strategy, innovation, and sustainability consultancy business. Working with over 150+ organisations, on multiple engagements, Declan has been immersed in the world of innovation, systems, and design thinking across all areas of business at strategic, product portfolio, human, service, process, customer experience and total proposition levels. From the bench to the boardroom, with micro to multinational organisations, Declan has worked internationally and locally with senior leaders and executives in Fortune 500 global household brand names across the total value ecosystem as they look to evolve their proposition. He has also mentored and coached many start-ups on their business proposition evolution, all with a sustainability/climate focus. He has a particular interest in the employee as stakeholder. He has a qualification in the circular economy from TU Delft. He has designed and delivered many of the sustHub programmes. He has run many online and in-person workshops with SMEs and MNC leadership teams. He mentors and coaches’ clients through the programme. He also publishes online articles and reports for clients. Declan consults to the Future of Work Institute, Cpl on all things workforce related and employee value propositions.
