Course Overview 

This programme focuses on developing practical sustainability and ESG management skills and
implementing strategies to drive business success. The programme is designed to accelerate
sustainable business transformation concerning decarbonisation and ESG strategies in organisations. 

For the Business: The business should have a baseline of its sustainability and ESG performance and should have a sustainability roadmap, deployment plan and reporting protocol so the business can reduce waste, lower costs, and improve operational efficiency.

For the Participant: At the end of the programme, participants will have comprehensive knowledge of sustainability and ESG management and be able to implement a sustainability strategy that drives business success.

Course Objectives

This programme will build internal workforce capacity in the participant's organisation and embed a
sustainability and continuous improvement culture. 

The main Programme Objectives are to:

  • Build workforce capacity and expertise within the organisation to address sustainability.
  • Assess the strategic value of Sustainability and ESG in the business.
  • Attain a deep knowledge of the different stages of a sustainability journey. 
  • Complete a Health Check to baseline the sustainability performance of the business. 
  • Design a strategy with goals and objectives to decarbonise the business.
  • Establish a Sustainability Roadmap with key milestones. 
  • Develop Key actions and KPI’s. 
  • Establish and implement a Continuous Improvement (CI) project that will help achieve the business's sustainability strategy. 

Learning Outcomes 

  • Sustainable Practices: Recognise specific sustainable practices that can be implemented in various settings, such as green building, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and sustainable transportation. 
  • Generalise the importance of continuous improvement in sustainability and ESG management. 
  • Appreciate the importance of effective deployment in successfully implementing sustainability strategies and projects and the key factors that can impact deployment success. 
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to integrate sustainability and ESG practices into an SME operation. 

Delivery 

Training is delivered in GreenTech HQ's new state-of-the-art bespoke dedicated training room. GreenTech HQ Sustainability Innovation Hub is located in Senan House, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. This is Ireland's first passive certified commercial building, powered by rooftop solar panels, features eight air changes daily, electric car and bike charging points. 

This will be a mix of 3 x 1-day class sessions with one-on-one support between sessions and followup support sessions. The total timeline for programme delivery is approximately 2.5 months. 

Indicative Course Overview 

DAY 1 – TRAINING SESSION:- INTRODUCTION 

  • Background and Context - Introduction to Sustainability and ESG 
    • Business case for sustainability and ESG
  • Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs in your business) 
    • Defining sustainability goals and targets 
  • Sustainability Health Check 
    • Identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement. 
    • Scoping Continuous Improvement Project. 

Phase 1 BETWEEN SESSIONS – CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT PROJECT:- HEALTH CHECK 

Phase 1 of the Continuous Improvement (CI) project is where participants will complete a current state sustainability health check survey on their business. 

They will meet the trainers for a 30-minute one-on-one online review and coaching sessions. These sessions provide a personalised and tailored approach where participants can review their learning and progress, ask questions pertinent to their own business and consolidate the next steps. 

DAY 3 - TRAINING SESSION 

  • Review of Health Checks 
  • Integrating sustainability into business operations and processes 
  • Sustainable supply chain management 
  • Developing a sustainability strategy, goals, and objectives for business success 
  • Developing key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainability and ESG 

Phase 2 BETWEEN SESSIONS – CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT PROJECT:- DEVELOPING STRATEGY, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE INDIVIDUALS BUSINESS 

Phase 2 of the CI project, where participants will develop the strategy, goals and objectives for the individual’s business. 

They will meet the trainers for a 30-minute one-on-one online review and coaching sessions. These sessions provide a personalised and tailored approach where participants can review their learning and progress, ask questions pertinent to their own business and consolidate the next steps.

DAY 5 - TRAINING SESSION 

  • Review of strategy, goals and objectives. 
  • Creating a roadmap for sustainability that is tailored to their unique needs and constraints. 
  • Creating an action plan for integrating sustainability across your organisation's value chain. 
  • Measuring and reporting on sustainability performance. 
  • Continuous improvement project. 

Phase 3 CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT FOLLOW-UPS 

Phase 3 of the CI project is the implementation phase. Participants will meet the trainers for a 30- minute one-on-one online review and coaching sessions. 

The purpose is to confirm the CI project is on track and ensure they are integrating sustainability and ESG into corporate culture. These sessions provide a personalised and tailored approach where participants can review their learning and progress, ask questions pertinent to their own business and consolidate the next steps. 

ENGAGEMENT AND MAXIMISING OPPORTUNITY FOR LEARNING 

The programme will consist of interactive sessions, group exercises, and one-to-one with trainers to keep participants engaged and reinforce key concepts. It is also important to have breaks for networking and personal reflection. 

Participants, who successfully complete the programme, complete the health check, develop the strategy goals and objectives, and complete the Continuous Improvement project will receive a certificate of completion.
