For the Business: This programme is designed to help businesses develop more effective ESG strategies and sustainability reports that consider their business operations' internal and external impacts. 

For the Participant: The programme is designed to help participants develop the knowledge and skills to conduct practical materiality assessments that inform their ESG reporting and sustainability strategies.

Materiality Assessments are often the first step in developing an ESG strategy for businesses. However, most organisations need to understand their importance and how to complete the assessment. This often hinders or even prevents companies from starting on their journey. 

  • This programme will demystify the concept of materiality and double materiality. 
  • It will help organisations understand what is materially important to them, their stakeholders and the supply chain. 
  • It will give them a jump start on their sustainability journey. 
  • They can complete the materiality assessment to form the basis of their sustainability strategy and roadmap.

Indicative Course Overview

The one-day training programme on the Fundamentals of ESG Materiality Assessments, designed to provide participants with a foundational understanding of the concepts and techniques used in identifying, prioritising, and reporting ESG issues that are material to a business. 

The course will cover the following topics: 

  • An introduction to ESG materiality assessments and their importance for sustainability reporting and decision-making. 
  • The concept of materiality and its relevance for ESG issues. 
  • Techniques for identifying and prioritising ESG issues, including stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, and benchmarking against peers and industry standards. 
  • Strategies for reporting on ESG materiality assessments, including the use of frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). 
  • The concept of double materiality and its relevance for ESG materiality assessments. 

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND FACILITIES 

Training will be delivered in GreenTech HQ’s new state-of-the-art bespoke dedicated training room. GreenTech HQ Sustainability Innovation Hub is in Senan House, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. This is Ireland's first passive certified commercial building and, powered by rooftop solar panels, features eight air changes daily, electric car and bike charging points. 

ENGAGEMENT AND MAXIMISING OPPORTUNITY FOR LEARNING 

The programme will consist of interactive sessions with a mix of lecture-style presentations, discussions, group exercises, and case studies to keep participants engaged, accommodate different learning styles, and reinforce key concepts. It is also essential to have breaks for networking and personal reflection. 

Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive a certificate of completion.
